Anna Hanson, LMHCA

A young woman sitting on a concrete ledge in a park during autumn, surrounded by fallen colorful leaves and waving trees. She is smiling, wearing a black quilted jacket, patterned orange and white shirt, black pants, and black sneakers.

Hello! I’m Anna (she/her). I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA). I hold a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and a Dual Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Spanish. I was trained in trauma-informed relational psychodynamic psychotherapy.

About Me

I enjoy getting lost in a poem, racing to the tops of stairs, and spending time with loved-ones. I’m a musician and love water coloring. I am fascinated by language and am learning my third. De-colonial and liberation work is something deeply important to me as a person. I’m white-presenting and mixed race, with Japanese, Finnish and Norwegian cultural roots. I’m a queer, cisgender woman. I’m someone who’s still figuring out how to meet and engage with the world we’ve inherited, and aim to do so with integrity.

I completed my clinical practicum (my internship in graduate school) at a child advocacy center where I supported child, adolescent, and adult clients who were all survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Prior to my graduate school experience, my work in the nonprofit sector ignited my curiosity and frustration towards oppressive systems and the importance of ethical story telling within institutions. My internship and personal therapy experience have taught me that human authenticity, challenging conversations, wrestling one’s own ideas and feelings, regular creativity, and supportive relationships can be transformative.
